The Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented (TAGT) Annual Professional Development Conference will be here sooner than we think!!! The conference is November 15-16, 2007 in Houston, Texas at the fabulous George R. Brown Convention Center. For more information please visit www.txgifted.org.

Mallett & Company will be presenting four sessions at the conference. Those sessions are: Multicultural Needs of the Gifted and Talented in American Schools, Identification: Underrepresented Gifted Learners in American Schools, The Individual Education Plan: What Works, and Gifted with Disabilities: What Parents, Educators, and Administrators Must Know. Please check the times and dates for these presentations in the program guide.

The Thirty-Hour Gifted and Talented Training in Beaumont ISD was a great success. Mallett & Company extends a special thank you to Mr. Frank Brocato, the Gifted and Talented Coordinator in BISD for his attendance and participation. The celebration cake he brought for the participants was especially delicious! A very special thank you goes out to all of the teachers who contributed to the sessions. The ideas shared were fantastic! Thank you for your participation.

Mallett & Company, ECS is soon to present the new book by Deborah G. Mallett, The Little Book of Giftedness for Parents, Teachers, and All Gifted Learners. It is a result of the knowledge, experience, and research of Deborah Mallett, that this book will afford educators, parents, students, and administrators the basic tools in which to identify and meet the needs of gifted learners. It is simple, easy to read, informative, candid, research-based, and chocked full of interesting information for all readers.

A special applause to my good friend and colleague, Debbie Kaschik, at The Woodlands Young Learners Academy for the grand opening of her new school. Debbie and I met at the TAGT Dallas Conference several years ago, where she shared with me her vision for opening a school for the gifted and talented. Her dream has come true!!! I recently visited the campus. It is gorgeous and the students were having such a great time. The school is located in The Woodlands, north of Houston. Trees and lovely greenery surround the campus. There is a special place for the young children to play and a remarkable science and math room. She even serves cappuccino to her guests! Congratulations, Debbie!!!

SEE “YA’LL” AT THE CONFERENCE!!!

     Many thanks!
